97% of the world’s leading scientists agree Planet Earth is in crisis. The crisis is known as Global Warming or Climate Change.

Cri·sis | krahy-sis | noun

a stage in a sequence of events at which the trend of all future events, especially for better or for worse, is determined; turning point.

What are the consequences of Climate Change?

Climate change is the long-term alteration of temperature and typical weather patterns in a place. The unexpected weather patterns can make it difficult to maintain and grow crops in regions that rely on farming because expected temperature and rainfall levels can no longer be relied upon. Climate change is linked to other damaging weather events such as more frequent and more intense hurricanes, floods, downpours, and winter storms.

What is the cause of Climate Change?

Scientists agree climate change is caused by human activity. Burning fossil fuels, natural gas, oil, and coal releases greenhouse gases into Earth’s atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun’s rays inside the atmosphere causing Earth’s average temperature to rise. This rise in the planet’s temperature is called Global Warming. The warming of the planet impacts local and regional climates.

What can we do about Climate Change?

Scientists agree human behavior must change to slow down and ultimately reverse the warming trend before the crisis is permanent and the Planet Earth is not habitable. The greatest challenge to change human behavior and related activities are humans themselves. Slowing down and ultimately reversing the global warming trend requires universal public policy and execution of a collaborative global plan.  A universal public policy requires leadership and cooperation between countries with philosophical differences and a long history of vitriol. In other words, it is unlikely the world’s Superpowers will effectively work together to remedy the crisis.  In the absence of global leadership, this leaves solving the Climate Change crisis to the private sector and individuals to make difficult and inconvenient decisions in the short-term for the sustainability of Planet Earth over the long-term. Every individual and business enterprise can make decisions today to mitigate greenhouse emissions.  How future generations live depends on our collective effort and the cumulative effect of individual choices and business decisions made today.

What Now?

Willard Gibbs acknowledges a singular decision made by an individual or enterprise will not reverse the global warming trend.  In fact, many people do not agree with the scientists or believe Earth is in Crisis.  The Willard Gibb’s Team understands decisions are made for many different reasons including financially or environmentally motivated reasons.  Regardless of the motivations for decisions made, any individual who makes the choice to work with Willard Gibbs’ Team will not only increase profit, but also reduce greenhouse emissions.  Why Not?
